White Cane Run 2015
Be a Buddy for the Blind
On Saturday, 24 October 2015 hundreds of runners and walkers looking for a challenge or simply a great family outing, joined The Port Elizabeth Eye and Laser Institute fir a fun filled morning of festivities all in support of the visually impaired.
The Eye and Laser Institute, Specsavers and Nkosinathi Foundation for the Visually Impaired once again teamed up to host the fourth annual White Cane Run. The run has gone from strength to strength and has now been included in the EPA Official Race League calendar under the auspices of Walmer Athletics Club.
This year the race brought not only the inclusion of a 10km race for entrants but also a White Cane Challenge fir the visually impaired. The special challenge aimed to increase the awareness around the meaning of the white cane to the general public by allowing visually impaired persons to walk a shorter route independently by using only a white cane or guide dog.
A big THANK YOU to our wonderful sponsors who help take the event from strength to strength every year.
